The Intolerance Of Tolerance (Part 5): Demolishing Strongholds

In my last post, I noted the importance of recognizing our battle is not against flesh and blood (Eph. 6:12). The enemy is the enemy, not the LGBTQ community, or Target, or people who push a pro-gay agenda. Rather than responding with mere natural weapons—i.e. shouting louder or writing in capital letters on social media (which I don’t recommend, by the way) we must focus our efforts on countering the forces of darkness that energize what’s happening in the natural realm:

“For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds” (2 Cor. 10:3-4).

How do we demolish spiritual strongholds? It’s not by might, not by power—nor by mere human logic; it’s by the Spirit of God through prayer. As mentioned previously, strongholds don’t respond to logic because you cannot oppose the God of Truth and operate in logic. Those who come under a spiritual stronghold are literally blinded by the enemy and do not respond to the truth unless the Lord removes the blinders of the enemy:

“And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God” (2 Cor. 4:3-4).

You and I are powerless to remove the enemy’s blinders on our own. No matter how persuasive our logic sounds, it cannot be received if the person we are communicating with has come under a stronghold of the enemy. Thus, before we attempt to reason with others, we need to ask the Lord to remove the blinders of the enemy, and we must pray the truth into them before we ever speak it to them directly. Below are some tips as to how to pray for someone who has come under a demonic stronghold:

  • Ask God to remove the veil that blinds their mind so that their heart can receive revelation.
  • Cast down every argument & pretension (i.e. lies) that the enemy has used against them by exposing the lie and thanking God for the truth.
  • Pray the truth into their spirit so they can receive it when you speak to them in person.

The same principles apply when praying for our nation as a whole: ask God to remove the veil over our nation, cast down every lie of the enemy by thanking God for the truth, and pray the truth into our nation and into those who serve in leadership.

Remember, the enemy is the enemy, and someone who is deceived cannot war for themselves. It’s time for the Bride to rise up and use spiritual weapons to counter the spiritual stronghold that is sweeping across our nation. Let’s ask the Lord to make us as wise as serpents and as innocent as doves as we take a stand the natural preceded by pulling down the strongholds of the enemy in prayer:

“One who is wise can go up against the city of the mighty and pull down the stronghold in which they trust”
Proverbs 21:22
